When we think about triggers in our home, we often immediately think of mold or toxic products. But the truth is that your air quality might be impacting your dizziness symptoms more than you know. Not only can you have the nasty mold spores and toxic chemicals floating around, but stale air, dust, and other things that live in your home can actually cause dizziness to worsen. Some people actually say that the air outside is often better than the air inside! This is where a good quality air purifier should be on your list of household items to own.

We have three different air filters we recommend getting. While it is possible to get cheaper, smaller ones nearly anywhere, you get what you pay for. Making the investment to have a high-quality air purifier will make a big difference in your home and your symptoms.

Air Doctor

The Air Doctor air purifier is our number one choice. It captures airborne pollutants, germs, smoke, and toxic gases. It works by capturing microscopic particles, then protects it with a fully sealed system so that they don’t escape back into your home. It monitors air quality and filters to give you alerts when you need to change or if your air quality is not good. It then shields against airborne threats and reduces the risks of illness.

They have three different options ranging from a single room to a whole house purifier. If you think that your whole home might be impacting your symptoms, getting the whole house one is probably your best bet.

Medify Air Filter

Similar to the Air Doctor, Medify Air Filter uses air filters to removes pollutants from the air. The biggest difference is that this one comes with a subscription service, where they will send you new filters in a certain amount of time. Every filter is made with HEPA filters which means high efficiency particle air. It means that it removes particles down to .3 microns which means they are getting pollutants so small out of the air that is invisible to the human eye but can still be harmful to your health.

They also have options from a single room to a full house!

JSPR Air Scrubber

JSPR Air Scrubber captures big particles like dust hair, pet fur, lint, carpet fibers, and pollen. It also traps smells from smoke and harmful chemical fumes. It too goes down to the tiny particles such as dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. It too includes an option for a subscription for the replacement filter or the option to buy when needed.

They recommend getting different filters, one per bedroom, one in the living room, and one in your home office or gym.

The Best One

Determining which purifier is best for you is a completely personal decision. It can come down to cost, what your personal needs are, and the size of the house you are trying to purify. It’s worth it to put in the research and save up the money to get one that will actually make a difference for you and your symptoms.

Remember that pollutants in the air can impact histamine, MCAS, and trigger vestibular symptoms. We are always asked what can I get to help me get better? An air purifier is a great first step!

Keep in mind that an air purifier is not going to make you magically feel better. Treating vestibular disorders requires full body support including movement, mindset, diet, and more. We teach you exactly what you need to do in Vestibular Group Fit.
