Vestibular dysfunction affects millions—yet it remains one of the most overlooked contributors to dizziness, balance issues, and reduced quality of life. At Vestibular Group Fit, we believe that with the right knowledge, targeted care, and holistic support, you can regain balance and confidence.
Vestibular dysfunction refers to a range of inner ear and brain-based disorders that affect balance and spatial orientation. These issues may sound niche—but they’re not: recent research found that over one-third of adults aged 40 or older in the U.S. experience vestibular problems. Vestibular dysfunction affects people of all ages, though, and increases the risk as age increases! In VGF, we see people from childhood into elderly adults being diagnosed with vestibular disorders that make a big impact on their everyday lives. Vestibular migraine makes up 3% of people who live with migraine in the world. That’s a lot of people!
Despite the commonality, vestibular dysfunction often go unnoticed or are mistaken for other conditions—meaning many live with avoidable symptoms and risks.
BPPV is the most common vestibular disorder, with vestibular migraine coming in second. This is followed by Meniere’s Disease and vestibular neuritis. Less common but still seen often are BVD and SCCDS. Each requires different testing, diagnosis, and treatment.

Struggling with vestibular dysfunction can mean more than just feeling dizzy sometimes:
Many people don’t talk openly about dizziness or are unsure where to go for help. Lots of vestibular disorders, if left untreated, will turn from episodic to chronic, making it harder to get symptoms under control. That’s why awareness is so important.
Not everyone will experience the same symptoms even if they have the same diagnosis. Conditions like BPPV, Meniere’s disease, or vestibular migraine each require its own unique approach. There is a need for customized treatment plans—but vestibular disorders are often overlooked in the disease world, so clinical trials are rare. This leads to inconsistent care and treatment plans. Most MDs are not even taught about dizziness in medical school, and if they are, it is a very baseline knowledge.
Effective options do exist, such as vestibular rehabilitation therapy, which improves balance, gaze stability, and reduces dizziness. Yet, many never receive these services due to a lack of access or referrals. Another consideration is that VRT may not be right for everyone, especially those living with vestibular migraine. So, when a doctor recommends it for someone with VM rather than other treatment options, it might make their symptoms worse.
Conditions like BPPV have very different treatment options from vestibular migraine or Meniere’s disease. Proper treatment makes all the difference in getting symptoms under control and a misdiagnosis or improper treatment path might makes things worse for the person.
VGF aims to fix the misinformation, wrong diagnoses, and improper treatment paths. Here’s how we meet the need for targeted, accessible, and holistic care:
